Introducing Disco MCP: manage your academy from Claude and ChatGPT

TL;DR
Disco MCP is now in public beta for every academy on an active plan. Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your academy and invite members, build groups, and handle enrollments in programs and pathways with a simple prompt. It works within your Disco permissions, asks before making changes, and keeps your existing automations running. Content creation is next.
More and more of that work now starts in AI tools, and your learning platform should meet you there. That’s why today we're excited to announce that the Disco MCP is live in public beta. With Disco MCP, you can now manage your academy from Claude or ChatGPT with a simple prompt.
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT connect securely to the tools you already use and take action in them.
Think of it as a universal adapter. Your AI assistant speaks one language, your software speaks another, and MCP lets them work together. Connect once, and your assistant can look things up and get work done in Disco on your behalf, with your approval.
Why it matters for the future of learning
Learning operators lose hours every week to repetitive admin. Onboarding a new cohort, enrolling members, and cleaning up groups all matter, but none of it is the reason you got into this work.
At the same time, AI assistants are becoming the place where work happens. You draft there, plan there, and think out loud there. Switching tabs and clicking through screens for routine tasks breaks that flow.
When the admin layer gets lighter, your team gets time back for what moves members forward: designing great programs, coaching, and improving outcomes.
We believe your learning platform should be something you can talk to and work with, right where you already are. Disco MCP is our first big step in that direction.
Introducing Disco MCP
The first release of Disco MCP focuses on member management. Academy owners and admins can connect Claude or ChatGPT to their Disco academy and use plain-language prompts to:
- Look up members, invites, groups, programs, and pathways
- Invite, create, update, deactivate, and remove members
- Create groups and manage who's in them
- Enroll or unenroll members in programs and pathways
Here's what that looks like in practice. Instead of 20 manual steps, you type one sentence: "Add these 20 members to the Spring cohort." Your assistant shows you what it plans to do, you approve it, and it's done.
A few details worth knowing:
- Available today. Disco MCP is in public beta for all customers with an active plan.
- Works where you work. Connect it to AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT.
- Respects your permissions. It's available to academy owners and admins, and it can only do what your Disco role allows.
- Keeps your automations running. Actions taken through MCP trigger the same webhooks as actions in Disco, so your existing workflows keep working.
Try our example prompts:
- "Invite these 20 people to my academy and add them to the Spring Leadership cohort group." (then paste your list)
- "Who has a pending invite that hasn't been accepted yet?"
- "Enroll everyone in the Sales Onboarding group into the New Hire Essentials pathway."
- "Create a group called Q4 Managers and add these members to it."
- "Deactivate the members on this list who left the company last month."
- "Which program is jordan@acme.com enrolled in?"
- "Unenroll the Fall cohort from Intro to Coaching and enroll them in Advanced Coaching."
- "List every pathway in my academy and how many members are enrolled in each."
Your assistant asks you to confirm before it makes changes. Take a moment to review each action, especially when you're removing or deactivating members.
What's next
This first release is just the start. The next phase of Disco MCP focuses on content creation and management, so you can build and update learning content right from your AI tool of choice. We'll roll it out to design partners first, then more broadly. After that, we’ll be bringing reporting into Disco MCP so you can pull the insights you need most.
We'd love to hear what you want Disco MCP to do. Share your ideas with our team and help shape where it goes.
Your time belongs with your members, and Disco MCP gives more of it back.
